These operating instructions must be constantly kept available close to the appliance. They are to be read and applied by everyone assigned to operate the appliance and to eliminate faults with it. Retain these operating instructions and pass them on, together with the appliance, to a possible future owner. Copyright This documentation is copyright protected. Any copying or reproduction, including as extracts, as well as the reproduction of images, also in an altered state, is only permitted with the written authorisation of the manufacturer. Intended Use This appliance is intended only for domestic use and for the refreshing and humidification of air in enclosed spaces. This appliance is not intended for any other use or for uses beyond those mentioned here. WARNING Risks from unintended use! Risks can be engendered by the appliance if it is used for unintended purposes and/or other types of use. Use the appliance exclusively for its intended purposes. Observe the procedures described in these operating instructions. 2 SAD 12 A1 Introduction Claims of any kind resulting from damage caused by improper use, incompetent repairs, unauthorized modifications or the use of nonapproved spare parts will not be acknowledged. The operator alone bears liability. GB Warning Notices In these extant operating instructions the following warnings are used: WARNING A warning at this risk level indicates a possibly dangerous situation. If the dangerous situation is not avoided, it could lead to personal injury. Follow the instructions in this warning to avoid personal injuries. IMPORTANT A warning at this risk level signifies possible property damage. If the situation is not avoided it could lead to property damage. The directives in this warning are there to avoid property damage. NOTICE A notice signifies additional information that assists in the handling of the appliance. SAD 12 A1 3 Safety GB Safety In this chapter you will receive important safety information regarding the handling of the appliance. This appliance complies with the statutory safety regulations. Incorrect usage can, however, lead to personal and property damage. Basic safety instructions For safe handling of the appliance observe the following safety information: Before use, check the appliance for signs of visible external damage. Do not put into operation an appliance that is damaged or has been dropped. There is also a risk of personal injury! This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with restricted physical, physiological or intellectual abilities or deficiencies in experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or receive from this person instruction in how the appliance is to be used. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Place the appliance only on flat surfaces, so that a tipping over is excluded. Repairs should only be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by the Customer Service Department. Incorrect repairs can result in significant risks for the user. In addition, warranty claims become void. To avoid risks, arrange for defective power plugs and/or cables to be replaced at once by qualified technicians or our Customer Service Department. 4 SAD 12 A1 Safety/Operating Elements This appliance may not be exposed to rain. Protect the appliance from moisture and the penetration of liquids and objects into the housing. NEVER submerse the appliance in water and do not place objects filled with liquids (such as vases) on the appliance. The appliance could also be irreparably damaged! When filling or emptying the water tank and before every cleaning, ALWAYS disconnect the adapter from the mains power socket. Do not operate the appliance close to open flames (e.g. candles). The appliance could also be irreparably damaged! Avoid direct solar radiation. The appliance could be irreparably damaged! Always disconnect the mains power cable from the socket by pulling on the plug, do not pull on the cable itself. Otherwise, the power cable could be damaged. Observe the following safety information to avoid these risks: Packaging material should not be used by children as a play thing. There is a risk of suffocation. To avoid damage to people and property, pay heed to the requirements for the installation site and the electrical connection of the appliance. Items supplied and initial inspection The appliance is supplied with the following components as standard: Aroma Diffuser SAD 12 A1 Mains adapter Measuring beaker Operating Instructions NOTICE Check the contents to ensure everything has been provided, and for signs of visible damage. If the contents are incomplete, or have been damaged due to defective packaging or transportation, contact the Service Hotline (see chapter Service). Unpacking Remove all parts of the appliance and these operating instructions from the box. Remove all packaging materials from the appliance. 6 SAD 12 A1 Setting up and connecting Disposal of packaging The packaging protects the appliance against transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable. The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves on raw material and reduces generated waste. Dispose of packaging material that is no longer needed according to the regionally established regulations. GB Electrical connection IMPORTANT Before you connect the appliance to the power supply, check to ensure that the required input voltage as given on the type plate tallies with that for the intended power source. To avoid possible damage to the appliance this data must match. Check to ensure that the cable for the power adapter is not damaged and that it does not lead over hot surfaces and or sharp edges, otherwise it could be damaged. Ensure that the cable for the power adapter or kinked. is not over-taut Connect the power adapter to the appliance by inserting the plug into the plug socket on the underside of the appliance. SAD 12 A1 7 Handling and operation GB Handling and operation Initial use WARNING Risk of scalding! UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you hold your hands and face over the steam outlet when the appliance is in operation. There is a risk of being scalded by steam. IMPORTANT Use only 100% essential oils. Pay heed to the instructions by the manufacturer of the essential oils. It is possible that oil drops may cause damage to furniture surfaces. If necessary, place a cloth under the appliance. Place the appliance on a level and stable surface. Remove the diffusion cone and fill the water tank , by using the supplied measuring beaker, with max. 80 ml of clean mains water. Pay heed to the maximum filling level . Add 3-5 drops of your desired 100% essential oil to the water. Then replace the diffusion cone onto the container. Press: NOTICE The appliance switches itself off automatically as soon as the liquid in the water tank has been used up. IMPORTANT Damage to the appliance! NEVER tilt the appliance during operation and do not try to empty it. GB SAD 12 A1 9 Cleaning/Storage/Disposal GB Cleaning/Storage/Disposal IMPORTANT Damage to the appliance! To avoid irreparable damage, when you are cleaning the appliance ensure that no moisture can penetrate into it. Ensure that you remove the power adapter from the mains power socket before cleaning the appliance. To avoid damage, do not empty the appliance through the ventilation slot . When emptying it, take note of the arrow direction on the water tank . Under no circumstances should you try to remove scale deposits with a pointed or sharp object. The appliance could be irreparably damaged. Cleaning/descaling the appliance Clean the water tank after each use so as to remove oil residue as completely as possible. For this, use a soft and slightly moist cloth. In the case of stubborn stains, place a few drops of mild detergent on the damp cloth. Should the steam production diminish, the ceramic disk located at the bottom of the water tank must be cleaned. For this, use a slightly moistened cotton bud. Clean the surfaces of the appliance with a soft and dry cloth. To descale the appliance, use a standard commercial liquid descaling agent. Pay heed also to the manufacturer's instructions for your descaler. 10 SAD 12 A1 ... Storage/Disposal/Appendix Fill the water tank to the maximum filling level with descaler and let it stand until the scale is fully dissolved.
